Shelby Bateman

Servant Leader

Shelby Bateman is a Marine Corps wife, homeschool mom of two, military family advocate, and the 2026 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year. Military life has taken her family across the country through multiple duty stations, deployments, long separations, and plenty of seasons where motherhood and military life haven’t exactly followed the plan.

Her own experiences have shaped a passion for creating the connection and community military families need to thrive. Through volunteer leadership, nonprofit partnerships, and authentic storytelling, Shelby encourages military spouses to find their voice, build meaningful relationships, and recognize that supporting a service member’s career doesn’t mean losing sight of their own identity and purpose.

When she isn’t wearing her volunteer or advocacy hat, she’s usually wearing her mom hat, homeschooling two kids, navigating the unpredictability of military family life, and figuring it all out one season at a time.
